Please plan to come to Padiham Praise in the Park on Sunday 24th June from 3pm until 5pm. This is an alternative event to the annual Walking Day and will take place at the bandstand in Padiham Memorial Park. The Goodshaw Band will be with us and the programme will start with and open-air service lasting half an hour. This will be followed by some games for children, a picnic tea and then a little later the band will give a concert. So it should be a great afternoon for all ages. Just bring your friends and family, something to eat, a rug to sit on (or deck chairs etc), cricket bats and sun-cream. If it rains we’ll go ahead in St Leonard’s. (Please note there will be no evening service at St Leonard’s that day.)
Then at 5pm I’d like to invite you to make your way into our cemetery that adjoins the park. The St Leonard’s Church Committee has created a new area for cremated remains next to the old chapel in the Blackburn Road Graveyard. A stone wall has been built to which plaques can be attached. The ashes will be interred in the lawn in front of the wall. Just after 5pm on the 24th I’m going to dedicate the new area and so I would appreciate if some of the congregation would join me! We then need to let the people of Padiham know that we welcome requests for interments. If you’ve not yet seen the wall do come and have a look. I’m confident that it will prove to be an appropriate place for parishioners quietly to remember their loved ones.
Yours in Christ
